The Autumn issue of ArtReview Asia explores the idea of home: what it means, whether it’s a place, or space, or people. Featured artists include Pakistani filmmaker Hira Nabi, whose recent film Wild Encounters (2023) considers the relationship between the forest in Muree, Pakistan, and its inhabitants; Tan Zi Hao, whose work interrogates the way language is used as an identity marker in Malaysia’s multicultural society; and Mire Lee, whose often grotesquely visceral sculptures remind us of the fragility of our own bodies, and make us question what it means to belong.
