What's inside the issue?

The summer issue of ArtReview Chinese explores artists' travels and the ways of artistic creation and research on the move. This issue of the magazine focuses on the Chengdu-based artist duo Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun , who have long been engaged in the field practice of the "Water System Project", Liang Shuo and Alice Chen , who create and research around 🔗shanshui and the differentiated interpretation of this concept in different social contexts , Hu Yun , who calls his creative process "travel" , a brief history of art residencies and experience sharing from the organizers and participating artists of the residency projects, as well as artist 🔗Aki Sasamoto 's performance based on materials to build scenes and narratives, 🔗Heecheon Kim's image creation that blurs the boundaries between reality and virtuality, and the plant -dyed garden and art residency run by French-Moroccan artist Yto Barrada in his hometown of Tangier.

In addition, the preview section of this issue will bring a quick look at a series of exciting exhibitions this quarter. The critic column explores the dilemma of representative European and American old biennials such as Venice at the time when the momentum of globalization is coming to an end, or uses words to "guide" Christian Nyampeta 's recent exhibition "Night School" in Shanghai, Tsai Mingliang 's theater work "Xuanzang" staged at Tai Kwun in Hong Kong , and Yoko Ono's large-scale retrospective exhibition " Music of the Mind " held at Tate Modern in London . The commentary section of the magazine is as colorful as ever. The "Foreigners Everywhere" of the 60th Venice Biennale seems to be the one with the most visits from Chinese artists after the epidemic, and the "Follow Your Feelings" of Guangdong Times Art Museum after its restart also responded to many contemporary propositions. The exhibition review also involves the solo exhibition of Wong Ping , which attracted a lot of attention during Art Basel in Hong Kong , and the solo exhibition of Han Qian in Wuhan . In the book and film reviews section, you can read comments on the art economy of Saudi Arabia, a hot spot in the international art world today; and the movie "The Fallen Judgement" , which sparked heated discussions at the Peking University Centennial Lecture Hall , has received an analysis based on the script in this issue of the magazine.
